Each session is around 2 hours, beginning indoors in a warm, relaxed space.
We’ll spend time learning simple, practical tools from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — an evidence-based approach that helps you respond differently to stress, difficult thoughts, and emotions.
ACT isn’t about “fixing” you or getting rid of uncomfortable feelings.
It’s about learning how to be with them differently, so they don’t run the show allowing you to start moving towards the life you actually want.
We cover a different process each week then, gently move into experiential learning.
This is where Chilled Mind is different.
Rather than just talking about stress and overwhelm, we step outside and experience it in the body — through optional cold water dips.
You’ll learn how to:
– notice what shows up (thoughts, sensations, urges)
– respond with steadiness rather than panic or avoidance
– build confidence in your ability to handle discomfort
You don’t need to be “good at” cold water swimming.
This is not about pushing yourself — it’s about learning to stay with yourself.
We finish each session with a warm drink, reflection, and simple ways to take what you’ve learned into your everyday life.
RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS HOW OPEN WATER SWIMMING SUPPORTS MIDLIFE WELLBEING … FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF.
Around 8 years ago, I discovered cold water dipping… and it had a profound impact on me.Not just physically, but in how I related to stress, discomfort, and my own mind.
It wasn’t about “being brave” or pushing through it was about learning how to stay present, steady, and connected to myself, even when things felt intense.
Alongside my colleagues at Mind & Mountain Psychology, I’ve brought this together with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to create the Chilled Mind programme.
I’m a BABCP-accredited therapist and trained in STA open water safety, so your wellbeing — both psychologically and physically — is always at the heart of what we do.I absolutely love working alongside women —
especially those who are used to holding everything together on the outside, while feeling overwhelmed underneath.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, and evidence-based.
I’ll be there to guide you, support you, and gently encourage you — at your own pace.
You don’t need to be a certain type of person to join this.
Just a willingness to show up, as you are.
How Much does it cost?
Investment: £299 for the full 8-week programme
(just over £35 per week — a small weekly investment in yourself)
Supported Places
A small number of supported places are available.
Thanks to the generosity of women in my Everyday ACT for Women WhatsApp community, I’m able to offer a £50 contribution towards the programme for up to 3 women.

Do it! Being part of the ACT groups is the best therapy I have ever done. It is helping me move forward and change habits that have been holding me back. I am definitely going to take this further to learn more about ACT and myself.
Ive shared this before but resharing as its honestly the best thing I ever did!
Got some well needed clarity, support and some of the loveliest new friends for life x
Joining Helen’s ACT group was the greatest thing I chose to do last year. Highly recommend
Definitely take part it helps you by giving you small challenges/things to think about… I had been holding off speaking my thoughts in a relationship because I didn’t want to cause arguments but I finally did… and I do feel less heavy because of it
